From ice hockey to ballet—not your usual path, but that’s what happened to me growing up in Southern California. While I was busy at the rink, my sister was studying ballet, and at about the age of 10, my parents decided I should join her. I quickly found my passion for dance after the first few performances onstage.

When I was 15, my love for ballet had grown so strong that I felt compelled to leave my family behind and move across the country to Orlando, Florida, in pursuit of better training with Fernando Bujones at Orlando Ballet School. I joined Orlando Ballet’s main company a few years later, and then decided to head to Seattle to take my shot at finding a job with Pacific Northwest Ballet.

PNB had always been my dream company, and I could not be happier with the opportunities and experiences it has given me. Not only have I been able to dance a diverse repertoire, but I have also been able to explore my interest in choreography, creating works for PNB, Spectrum Dance Theater and Seattle-based Hip Hop crew Massive Monkees.

The Northwest is now my home. It has allowed my career to develop and thrive, and has also become home to my entire family. I love the city, the outdoors, the islands and ferries. This is the place where I met my wife, got married, and where we plan to spend the rest of our lives together.
